DCM- SY.C.M.LK

9 DEC 2009, Wed.
That day was a perfect day for shooting, blue sky and white cloud.
Too bad I am not taking pictures outdoor.
Instead, inside photography studio.

First of all, let me introduce our model.
ShinYee, Celine, Matin, and LaiKuan.
(above) Character card, from ShinYee to LaiKuan.

(above) Taken at the very beginning, both model and photographers still warming up.

(above) The violinist.

It's Celine's turn.
(above) Colored light source.

(above) I like this kind of effect, a little flare, like a painting.

Matin.
(above) He look like an artist here.

(above) Oh, Matin....

Ah, first time post so many pics, more pictures coming, please wait patiently.
Still got a lot picture to go.
If I misspelled the models name, correct me.
Not really satisfy on this shooting... it is never easy to achieve the title of PHOTOGRAPHER.

DCM- Malacca Mission

Shots taken during fieldtrip.
Shots proven by lecturer, total 5.

(above) Yellow chair, red wall, blue pants.

(above) Hey, stop acting.

(above) Together we visit temple.

(above) Becareful, there is still a long way to go.

(above) Splash!

Lecturer's comments, "Interesting subject, each picture contain elements of Malacca."
Nothing much to say, a picture worth a thousand words, now here I got at least 5000 words.

Mission accomplished.

DCM- Digital Camera Mission

DCM, not Digital Camera Malaysia mag, instead, Digital Camera Mission, as I am using a digital camera for my shooting.
Just ignore the bullshit...

Assignments from photography class, required me to go around hunting for good pictures.
I had already posted my first assignment, texture.
Here comes the second and the third which is light and shadow, reflection.

Light and shadow.
I got this shot right after my photography class end.
Taken at Sunway Pyramid.
I was attracted by the casting light and shadow, I tried a few shots and suddenly a boy walked into my frame and just stood there for unknown reason.
(above) Thanks alot, little boy.

Taken at SBS Chinese Camp 2009.
The original shot wasn't like that. My lecturer looked at my picture and cropped it, he says, "This is much better."
(above) What man is this? Balloon-Man?

Next theme, reflection.
Taken at Dewan Philharmonik, KLCC.
I waited until someone suitable walked by.
(above) Luckily no security guard notice me and chase me away.

Taken at KLCC too, beside Convention Centre.
(above) Always go KLCC for photography assignments?

End story for wekly assignments.
Let's talk a little on Malacca field trip.
A day or two before the field trip, I went for sensor cleaning and most importantly I got a circular polarizer.
I wanted a CPL for a long time, but it is just too expansive.
Now, finally I got one, a 52mm HOYA.
(above) Yay! HOYA!!!

The field trip to Malaca is for photo shooting.
Once again, photography class activity.
Let's look at some pictures.

Couples doing wedding photography. I didn't compose this picture, it is non of my business...
Then I found out the outcome good, I regreted...
(above) Hey, can I join the shooting?

This picture is just for testing, wanted to shoot like a proffesional...
(above) Kind of old school shot.

Wind mill, a little bit of PS retouching... just to make it better...
(above) This is not from Holland.

For this picture, I like the color... I never got this kind of color before.
(above) Playing with WB huh?

I like the outcome and the feel of this pic.
It is just different from my prevoius shot...
(above) What were they doing there?

At the end of the day, my friend took my cam and looked at my pictures, they all asked, "why your color is so difference?" or something like that.
I had been thinking why. Maybe preset white balance, or maybe I am using CPL.
CPL cuts off unwanted reflections, revealing true color of a subject. Correct me if I am wrong.

Do note that most of my Malacca shot above are original shots, only one or two being touched for better contrast and composition.

Of Ps Photography

Just reread DCM issue 2007, tutorial on how to do lomo effect and pinhole effect.
Following it step by step, trial and error, finally came out 2 pictures.

LOMO effect, Peeping Kent.

(above) Is there leng lui inside the cam?

Pinhole effect, Yamaha motor.

(above) Vroom......
It is not hard at all to create these effects on Ps.
80% satisfaction on these pictures...
And I just realized I added too much noise or grain on my picture.
I didnt experience a pinhole or a lomo, all my pictures were created upon my imagination and a little reference.
Finally, I want a Lomo.

A Fine Day for Photo Shooting

Assignments was given on the first lesson of photography class, entitled texture.
We were required to shoot under natural lighting, and no post processing.
Well, it is not that hard for ND100 to shoot under sunlight, the hard part is the ideas and concept.

All shots were taken under natural lighting with 50mm prime with aperture open up to f1.8.
These two shots were the best among my submitted assignments.
(above) Egg tray, maybe I should throw an egg on it before shooting.

I was told that always make your shots interesting by adding something on it, example like insects, leaves, animals...
So I added two leaves in my picture.
(above) Metal platform, yellow and blue is always so contrast.

This shot is not about texture. I found out shots like this can be quite interesting.
Picture taken while I was doing my photography assignments.

(above) I wanted a special effects, a sphere like effect on the edge.

ND100 is good, especially on outdoor, and with a combination of 50mm.

New Subject New Medium

First week of new semester.
Thought of new week has no homework, in fact, there is a lot of work to do...
New subject means new medium to learn, arcrylic and digital painting.
Let's talk about digital painting here.

Marker Visual.
At first, I thought there is nothing to do at the first class, a bit intro, a bit of lecturing, go home.
But, the lecturer ask us to paint, "Get your Wacom and draw."
He didn't even tell us how to do. "Just paint."
I am glad I got do a little practice on how to paint digitally.
(above) People always paint still life apple and orange at their first lesson.

Light and Mood Study.
We paint digitally again in this subject.
Study the light and mood and "Paint like Impressionist."
(above) I am Benz, Mercedes Benz.

80% satisfaction for my work, I just need a little bit more time to render.
Benefits of digital painting, fast, convenient, can undo, recycle...
If you want to learn more about digital painting, buy Imagine FX, although it is expensive.
Another ways is download tutorials from internet.
